Benefits of LED Lighting

LEDs have become increasingly popular and it's easy to see why since they offer many benefits over traditional lighting. They have greater lifespans, use less energy, safer alternatives and much more! The following are seven advantages to consider when switching to LED lighting:

1) Energy Efficiency

LED lighting uses much less electricity than traditional fluorescent and halogen light bulb options. Due to less maintenance, it results in substantial energy cost savings, especially in locations where lights are on for an extended period of time.

2) Greater Longevity

One of the greatest advantages to switching to LED lighting is the long lifespan it can endure. Quality LEDs have an expected lifespan of 50,000 hours or greater, depending on the quality of the lamp or fixture. That is 2-4 times more than fluorescent.

3) Environmentally Friendly

LED lighting contains no toxic materials and consume very low amounts of power. They are also 100% recyclable and help to reduce the overall carbon footprint. Traditional light bulbs use the element mercury and require special handling when being disposed of.

4) Durability

Since LED lights are not made of glass and are hollow inside they are durable and can withstand harsher conditions. They are break resistant so they are ideal for outdoor lighting systems where they can be exposed to harsh weather conditions. They are also not sensitive to cooler temperatures.

5) Improved Safety

One of the number one hazards when it comes to lighting is how much heat they can emit. LEDs do not forward any heat while traditional bulbs can convert more than 90% of its energy into heat. LEDs actually stay cool to the touch even after use. Because LEDS consume less power, they are much safer and require less energy.

6) Controllable

One of the benefits to LED lighting is the range of power from 0-100% unlike traditional incandescent bulbs. Some LEDs can go as low at 10% of light output with smooth, continuous energy. When using a dimmer they LED can become more efficient when they are reduced which also contributes to their life expectancy.

7) Cost Savings

With LEDs having a longer lifespan, they can reduce labor costs of replacing bulbs in any commercial or residential setting. They also use much less energy which lower electricity and utility bills by and upwards of 90%. If you are interested in learning how much LED lighting can save you, click here.
